Man Faces Charges From Firing Airsoft Gun

Bellevue police say they are recommending a charge of drive-by shooting assault be filed against a 19-year-old camera salesman suspected of firing shots - with what turned out to be an airosft gun - at a group of day laborers in front of a Home Depot on Sunday afternoon.

Police Spokeswoman Carla Iafrate said the department is not recommending a charge of malicious harassment, the state's term for a hate crime.

Police were called to the Home Depot on 120th Avenue Northeast around 1.p.m. Sunday after a report of shots fired by a man wearing a red T-shirt and driving a green Ford Explorer, according to the police report. No one was hit, but the laborers said they were afraid, police said.

An officer interviewed employees at a nearby Best Buy who identified the driver as a camera vendor who had worked in the store earlier in the day.

Prosecutors have until yesterday to file charges against the man, who is being held on $200,000 bail in the King County Jail for investigation of first-degree assault.

Person Carrying Airsoft Gun Causes School Lockdown

A suspicious person who caused a school lockdown Friday at the Academy Hill School was evaluated Tuesday and discovered to have stop his prescribed medication for several months, said Police Chief Dennis Brown Selectmen.The school was put on lockdown while officers of the region. When school was cleared and officers have started to move from door to door to residences in the area until they found the suspect, according to a press release.

No criminal charges will be filed against the Gunn High School senior who brought an Airsoft pellet rifle to the Palo Alto school, triggering a 45-minute campus lockdown last month, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office has determined.

After considering the "specific facts and the applicable law," prosecutors opted not to pursue the case against 18-year-old Weston Healy, district attorney spokeswoman Amy Cornell said Wednesday. Healy was arrested May 27 after someone spotted him and a friend driving into the school's parking lot with the gun.

Healy could have been charged with a felony and sentenced to up to three years in prison, Cornell said. But the California Penal Code provision under which prosecutors considered charging Healy specifies that the kind of firearms prohibited on school grounds are those that shoot a "metallic projectile." Airsoft guns wouldn't fall under that provision because they shoot plastic pellets instead.

Healy still could have been charged with bringing a knife onto school grounds, a misdemeanor, Cornell said. Police found the military-style blade in the trunk of his car.

"We also considered factors related to the suspect, including his youthful age, his acknowledgment of responsibility for his actions, and the significant administrative consequences being imposed by his school," Cornell wrote in an e-mail.

Healy's lawyer, Eric Geffon, said the Gunn graduate and his family are "relieved and grateful."

A "bad set of circumstances" led to Healy's arrest, Geffon said. The Eagle Scout and honors student had put the Airsoft gun inside the trunk of his car a couple of days before the May 27 incident. He intended to take it to his mother's house to compare it with his brother's new Airsoft gun, Geffon said.

But Healy forgot about it until he and a friend went to buy supplies for Gunn's robotics team at a hardware store, Geffon said. His friend noticed the gun, asked if he could look at it, and was holding it as they drove to school, Geffon said. Minutes after they were spotted, authorities locked down the school and began searching classrooms.

Police said they also found a shovel with a 4-inch pick and a hatchet with a removable saw in the trunk of Healy's car. Healy took the items with him on a recent camping trip with friends and had not yet removed them from the trunk, Geffon said.

Healy was suspended from school for the remainder of the year and wasn't able to walk in Wednesday's graduation ceremony, Geffon said, but he will receive his diploma.

He's also "doing everything possible" to make sure he can still attend Cornell University in the fall as planned, Geffon said.

"They know about this and he's in communication with them," Geffon said. "They were waiting obviously to see what happened with the DA's office, so I'm sure this will help."

Healy's family is paying the costs of the police response, Geffon said, which totals about $2,100.

In the meantime, Gunn students and others in the community have rallied around Healy. A "FREE WESTON!!!!!" Facebook group has more than 800 members, and more than 600 have signed an online petition urging Gunn administrators to "exercise reasonableness" in disciplining Healy.

"Thank you to all of those who have supported me," Healy posted on the Facebook group Wednesday. "I want everyone to know that I am really sorry for my thoughtless decisions. I did not mean for any of this to happen. I have been humbled by this experience and see how unintentional choices can lead to unwanted and unexpected events."

The UFAC- GAF 2008 tournament had already started last Friday. I was asked to be a Marshall of the game but unfortunately I didn't attend. I have to move to our new home as we are one of those expatriates here in Dubai that got this eviction from Dubai Municipality. Stiff penalties for airsoft guns in Dubai

I haven't played airsoft for months now but I still I am get informed of the latest news and updates of issues that involved airsoft here in Dubai.

I was shocked when my friend spooky who also play airsoft told me that airsoft will be banned here in Dubai.

Here is what he sent me from Gulf news.

Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council (FNC) on Tuesday passed a draft law imposing stiff penalties for carrying, possessing or dealing in arms, munitions, explosives and fire crackers without a licence.

Under the draft law on weapons, ammunitions and fire crackers, those who break the law will face up to 10 years in jail and a minimum fine of Dh15,000.

The right to possess and carry arms by people within the national territory is recognized, but with a licence and after adhering to the law.

The legislature demanded that only people aged 25 or more can obtain a licence to carry weapons, which was initially 21 years.

The house also turned down a clause that initially exempted the FNC members from obtaining a permit to carry arms.

Ahmad Bin Shabib, a member from Abu Dhabi, said he does not want to carry arms and "if there is a need I have to obtain a permit like other members of the public".

Sultan Bin Saqr Al Suwaidi, a legislator from Dubai, concurred and said this is not a privilege FNC members should seek.

Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, also demanded that a clause exempting ministers from obtaining a permit for carrying arms be removed.

The legislature gave the green light to removing all exemptions except for Rulers of the Emirates, their Crown Princes and Deputies and their sons.

According to the law, those permitted to possess arms, may not carry unconcealed weapons in public places, sports clubs, except for shooting clubs, public parties, conferences, industrial and oil production areas.

Fireworks may not be held without a permit, which is obviously a requirement for importation, production, storing, de-storing, transport and other services related to arms, munitions, explosives and fire crackers.

The law is applicable to factories of arms, explosives and fire crackers in free zones.

Anyone who commits the offence of dealing in, importing, exporting, manufacturing or attempting to smuggle weapons, munitions and explosives will face a prison term of up to 10 years and a fine of not less than Dh15,000.

The penalty will be reduced to six months in jail and a minimum fine of Dh15,000 if the offence involves non-firearms.

Using any gas or air-compressed arms, electrical or antique arms to threaten people will carry a prison term or a fine.

Repairing arms without a permit or doing so for people who are not entitled to carry arms will carry up to one year in jail or a Dh10,000 fine or both.

In all cases, arms, explosives or crackers will be confiscated and expatriates convicted will be deported following serving their prison terms.

Well, we'll just have to wait what really is this about but I think it will not affect our playing of airsoft here in Dubai. So stay tuned for more update...

Hi airsoft enthusiast, I am sorry if I have not been posting new stuff here. That is because I have not played airsoft here in Dubai for a long time now. But that does not mean that I will stop playing, it's just that I am very busy with work ( still got a problem with transportation ).

Anyway, this blog will still be active as I still get a lot of comments and enquiries. Do you believe that this blog is one of my visited blog? Yeah, I do have other blogs but they are not airsoft related.

Soon I will be posting the new list of UFAC-GAF teams. I've heard that from 10 teams, the federation has now 22 teams. Wow! That only shows that there are a lot of airsoft players here in Dubai.

PNP starts regulating Airsoft combat games

MANILA, Philippines - Airsoft enthusiasts have until July 1 to apply for the licenses of the rifles and pistols they use in their war games.

This was after the Philippine National Police (PNP) started regulating the popular combat sport where participants use varying types of weapons designed as replicas of real firearms, tactical gear, and accessories used by military and police organizations.

In GMA’s 24 Oras, reporter Claire Delfin said the PNP’s mass registration for Airsoft guns started last Saturday in Fairview, Quezon City.

Airsoft is a combat sport similar to Paintball in which participants eliminate opponents by hitting them with (6 mm or occasionally 8 mm) plastic BBs (small, spherical balls) launched from airsoft guns, that can be powered by CO2, Green Gas, spring, or electrically powered gearboxes actuating a piston.

Supt. Rogelio Simon, chief of the PNP’s permits and other licenses division, there is a need to regulate Airsoft war games since the replicas used in it could cause undue harm to others.

The PNP said those who are manufacturing, importing, selling, owning airsoft guns should apply for licenses. Those who fail to comply will face the risk of being arrested.

The PNP is also set to review airsoft’s rules and sites.

Airsoft enthusiasts, on the other hand, welcomed the move to regulate the game.

“Natutuwa kami kasi hindi na kami mari-raid at di na kami huhulihin (We’re happy because we’ll not be subject to raids and arrests anymore)," lawyer Ernesto Tabujara, founder of the United Airsoft Alliance, a group of airsoft enthusiasts in the Philippines. - GMANews.TV

Keen to play for the 2nd tournament

I have not played airsoft for 3 consecutive Friday now, too bad. Last Thursday our Mistah team president called me that we were going to have a meeting that night but unfortunetly I didn't go because my partner will not go and he had plans of surprising his wife on her birthday the next day. So I end up not attending the meeting ( buy a car man! ).

The reason why they conducted a meeting was because there will be a Dubai 2nd airsoft tournament this coming May, (I don't know yet what they will call it). I was not able to play on the first tournament coz I just joined and was a newbie that time and playing airsoft in a tournament is different from an ordinary games. Why?, because there are more marshalls and less zombies...hehehe...

OFWs Fighting Conflict with Combat

In the “war zone” they may be the fiercest of foes, but the UFAC-UAE Airsoft Federation actually consists of a closely knit group of OFWs willing to lend their kababayans a helping hand.

Thank God for Japan’s contributions such as Judo (modern Japanese martial art), Anime (Japanese animation), Nintendo (multinational videogame console corporation), Tamagotchi (handheld virtual pet), first-class brands on automobile and gadgets, and advanced robotics. But do you know that there’s another sport originating from the “land of the rising sun?” To the gun aficionados, this was invented as an alternative to privately owning firearms. To the adventurous, the sport provides a feel of an actual warfare. In layman’s terms it is simply what we now call as ‘AIRSOFT’—the combat sport utilizing exact replicas of real weapons and battle gears, an effective venue for combat training.

In some parts of the globe, airsoft is restricted or even prohibited due to its ‘almost real’ aggression and damages. Luckily, it is not restricted nor banned in the UAE. Taking advantage of this are troops of Filipino (and Filipina) expatriates clad in their most intimidating combat attire making one mistake them for real soldiers. Joining the Unified Filipino Airsoft Club (UFAC) – UAE Airsoft Federation requires compliance with certain requirements and demands one’s discipline and dedication. And although the sport is Japanese in origin, the alliance has completely owned the craft for a truly ‘Pinoy experience.’

FORMATION OF TROOPS
On the 7th of September last year, UFAC–UAE Airsoft Federation was formed among airsoft enthusiasts in Sharjah and Dubai with Ramses Ruidera (a Sales Manager in American Insurance Company) as their Founding President, Roland Cruz (Interior Designer in KCA International), Johnny Fernandez (Industrial Hygienist in Dubai Aluminum), Jeff Amparado (Company Purchaser in Intersports-Al Futtaim), Zandro Tumaliuan (Interior Designer in KCA International), Napoleon Cajandab (Architect – Engr. Adnan Saffarini), and Ibrahim Bernal (Logistics Manager) as the Founding Members.

Not long after its inception, the notable reputation of the federation spread across the neighboring emirates: Abu Dhabi, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain. Soon, troops of UFAC-UAE Federation Airsoft Clubs & Teams were assembled with their respective Team Leaders: Johnny Fernandez for Mistah Forces, Jeff Amparado for Magdalo Seal Team, Naploeon Cajandab for F.E.A.R., Zandro Tumaliuan for Ghost Recon, Ibrahim Bernal for A.R.M.A.S., Joseph Laihee for Bwelta Force, Miguel Sta. Barbara for Triskelion Airsoft Unit, William Macalayos for Black P.A.W., Andy Damondon for S.W.A.T., Ricardo Santos for Nautical Force, Eufrecino Duarte for P.A.R.A.K., Manuel Rodriguez, Jr. for Black Scorpion, Voltarr Manguilin for Musang, Victorio Bohol for D.A.W.G., and Angelo Navarro for P.S.I.C.O. The Federation now has 510 active members.

Every Friday, the Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club transforms into the ultimate “war zone.” The alliance is open to Filipino airsoft enthusiasts 16-45 years old, regardless of gender and social background. Although membership is absolutely free, one must submit a duly-signed UFAC Registration Form and Waiver, be a responsible owner of an AEG (Auto Electric Gun). Other accessories required include eye protectors (goggles or mask), battle dress uniform and other airsoft gears. Upon membership, basic game orientation is provided by the federation team leaders.

“WAR” FOR A CAUSE
But don’t be mislead by the “aggressive” nature of the federation. Note that after each competition, the UFAC-UAE Air Soft Federation, as a team, then sits down and works out plans and strategies to fight oppression and help our distressed compatriots through community services and projects of Lingkod OFW. These initiatives make them more than just a bunch of hobbyists. They form a new breed of social and civic service oriented club. The current Executive Council overseeing the entire organization is composed of the following:

Today was my 3rd time to play airsoft. It was great because I had the chance to play 5 games not like before. But at the same time I felt bad knowing that there are new and old players who do not follow airsoft safety rules.

Before I actually play airsoft, what I did was I went first to the game site to watched and observed how this sport is being played. I have heard airsoft and seen airsoft gun before from my cousin but I have never seen him play.

That day I've seen and saw players complaining that they got hit in close range in the head, the opponent doesn't shout "hit", etc... I admit I was kind of afraid when I saw that there is a chance they you'll get shot in the eyes. That what makes me hesitant to play at first, of course nobody wants to get blind, right?

Today, sad to say that my friend had accidentally shot someone at the hips while we were on the safe zone. I'm sure that he didn't mean it but of course it was his fault because he didn't remove the magazine from his gun when he left the battlefield, no questions ask.

I know that joining this game there is a possibility of getting hurt. But the hazard can be avoided if the airsoft player knows the safety rules. I'm sure that everyone will agree with me that this sport is about honesty but beside that I think think this game should also be about discipline, inside and outside the airsoft war zone.

When I arrived home from work, I saw my friend playing with his Sony PSP. I asked him if I can borrow it so I can play first and relax after a busy day of work, I decided to play the Medal of Honor Heroes 2 which is something like the counter strike I guess.

The game was like airsoft where there are specific objectives to achieve. And while playing it, there's a part where you can pick another type of gun, a sniper rifle. While playing the game and using the sniper rifle, I started to like using the gun because you can just look for a better position and fire at your opponent easily. So thinking that an airsoft sniper rifle is good gun to use in airsoft, I search the internet for cheap airsoft gun rifle but because it's already late and I have no more time to google, I haven't found one and what I saw was this one where it doesn't require pumping not like what I saw with my fellow airsoft players here, this gun is just simply point and shoot.

Solon wants production and sale of imitation firearms banned

A Mindanao lawmaker is seeking to prohibit the manufacture and sale of toy look-alike or imitation firearms, which he claimed have contributed to the rising criminality in the country.

Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriquez said there is no law prohibiting the manufacture or production of imitation firearms, which can be used by lawless elements in the commission of crimes against persons.

Rodriguez said his proposal embodied in House Bill 3426 would protect the welfare of citizens.

The proposal defines "toy-alike or imitation firearm" as any imitation of any original firearm which was manufactured, designed and produced since 1898, including toy guns, water guns, replica non-guns and airsoft guns firing non-metallic projectiles.

Under the proposal, it shall be unlawful for any person to produce, manufacture, sell, use, ship, transport, give or receive any toy look-alike or imitation firearm unless such firearm contains, or has affixed to it, a marking approved by the Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry.

The required DTI's distinctive marking for imitation firearms shall have as an integral part, a permanently affixed, blaze orange pulp inserted in their barrel. Such plug shall be recessed no more than 6 millimeters from the muzzle end of the barrel.

The proposal further provides that the DTI chief may provide for an alternative marking or device for any imitation firearm not capable of being marked and may waive the requirement of any such marking or device for any imitation firearm that will only be used in the theatrical, film or television industry.

Any offenders shall be fined with P50,000 or imprisoned for at least six months, or both at the discretion of the court. The Philippine National Police director-general shall be directed to conduct a study of the criminal misuse of imitation firearms, the bill provides.

Almost 3 months now since I created this blog. This blog is all about airsoft guns and maybe you noticed that I have not described what airsoft guns is so let me tell it to you.

Airsoft guns (also known as Soft Air guns by some manufacturers, such as Cybergun and Crosman) are spring, electric, or gas powered air guns that fire small spherical plastic pellet of either 6 mm or 8 mm diameter (0.24 or 0.32 inches), although spring-operated "air guns" may be disputed as air guns altogether. Very cheap airsoft guns are normally underpowered and unsuitable for match play, but some Chinese manufacturers such as Jing Gong (Echo 1) are now producing match-quality AEG's for under $100. The more expensive models by manufacturers such as Tokyo Marui and Classic Army are preferred by professional players due to their reliability and accuracy.

Most airsoft guns are replicas of real firearms, inkeeping with the realistic style of airsoft, but occasionally fictional firearms or body kits are available, such as the M41A Pulse Rifle from the Aliens films. Some very inexpensive airsoft guns are reduced scale models (such as the Boys models by some makers) or caricatures (such as the mini-electrics) of firearms. In addition, some designs are replicas of firearms that never even went into service or production, such as XM8 prototypes.

Operation Genesis - Airsoft Tournament Dubai

I have not been blogging lately about airsoft games here in Dubai because it's been 3 consecutive Fridays that I have not been able to play airsoft due to the first ever airsoft tournament here in Dubai called "Operation Genesis".

I was still able to watch on the first Friday of the game and I can say that it was really fun. My friend and I can only do is to watch them playing because only those seniors who were active since the club started were the one who can only play the game. Well, better luck next tournament buddy!

I would like to congratulate FEAR team for winning the contest and the runners up. And of course these teams will not win if nobody's competing with them so let's congratulate all the team's players, organizers, sponsors and all members of United Filipino Airsoft Club - UAE (UFAC-UAE) for putting an effort to have a successful airsoft competition like this.

United Filipino Airsoft Club - UAE in Dubai

Unified Filipino Airsoft Club (UFAC-UAE) is a fusion and unification of several airsoft clubs in the UAE Region comprising of Filipino and Non-Filipino members as well. The group was formed inthe year 2007 and is accredited by the Philippine General Consulate in Dubai.

Mistah Forces was the team who initiated to host the first ever legitimate playing venue in the country despite of extreme restriction of the game. On September 7, 2007, Mistah Forces hosted the first legitimate Airsoft game in UAE at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club. UFAC Airsoft Game Organizers is currently hosting two games in a week in Dubai (every Tuesday Night OPS) and Sharjah (every Friday – Morning games).

UFAC is now considered as the stronghold of UAE Airsoft Games and will continue on promoting airsoft games and camaraderie among Filipino workers in UAE.

Test fire your airsoft gun

Today was my 2nd airsoft game. Just like last time, my friend and I arrive the game site early but today his wife came along to watch us play and brought us and for the other players food.

The game started early today and there were a lot of airsoft players compared last week. My friends airsoft gun was still not working so he borrowed a gun from another friend of his. But to our surprise while we were already inside the gun site, the gun was also not working. So what he did was to wait for me to get killed so I can pass my rifle.

The person who was refferred to us to repair his not cheap airsoft gun came to us. The gun was only 1 week old and we were wondering why after a few games it didn't work. The man told him there was a problem with the fuse, so there they changed it.

Finally, we were able to play together for 3 games and the lesson we learnt was to test fire your airsoft gun before you go to battle.

First airsoft experience

It was last month when I joined an airsoft team called Mistah forces from an invitation of a colleague and today I finally had my first airsoft experience. Airsoft games here in Dubai are played in 2 play sites, in Sharjah Paintball Club on Friday and in Creek every Tuesday and today's airsoft game was played in Sharjah.

I had the chance to test my airsoft guns and also my friends gun. My friend and I arrived the play site early at around 6:50 am as we were told that game starts at 7 am. My partner was so excited that he woke up 5 am and was already in front of our house when I woke up (it was also his first airsoft game).

We got kitted out in overalls, a full face mask and supplied with airsoft guns. After we were informed about the safety instructions, we were out to play the game. Getting shot didn't hurt half as much as I had feared - it felt like being heavily tapped rather than stinging.

Though it was tiring and my thighs are paining me, it was really fun playing airsoft because of the thrill and excitement when you are inside the gunfield, the shooting, running and crawling make it really looks like a real gun battle.

Tokyo Marui Airsoft Guns

Tokyo Marui is an airsoft gun manufacturer/brand from Adachi, Tokyo, Japan. Its main market is Japan, but third-party retailers sell in Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, South Koreal, East Asia, and worldwide.

Such is the popularity of its guns that the company has its own center for airsoft sport called Tokyo Marui BB Sports Field. As its products are notable for their detail and accuracy, they have made appearances in numerous movies and Tokyo Marui has been mentioned in video game credits.

The company is known for manufacturing high-quality AEGs (automatic electric guns), although they also produce electric, gas, and some spring pistols.

I have now a high quality, top of the line AK-47 by Classic Army airsoft gun. This model is a metal/wood design that looks and feels like the real thing. It features a steel metal scope rail, steel flash hider, steel metal frame, 7mm metal bearing gear box and high performance motor. Classic Army airsoft guns

Classic Army (Yick Fung International) is a manufacturer of airsoft replicas. The headquarters for this A.E.G. manufacturer is in Hong Kong. They produce automatic electric guns or AEGs. Although they very closely resemble real firearms, these replicas fire 6mm plastic BBs at safe velocities. Within the airsoft community, Classic Army is often abbreviated as simply "CA."

Compared with other airsoft manufacturers, Classic Army AEG's are characterised by their many metal parts or, "Full Metal" meaning that each part that is metal on the real firearm is reproduced in metal on the replica, although it should be noted that it is not the same as the metal parts of a real firearm and will not enable use or operation as a real firearm. These metal components usually include the frame and body, spring-guides, bushings and firing mechanism (also called a "mechbox"). Replicas also feature pre-upgraded internals and polycarbonate pistons.

As with most AEGs, Classic Army replicas use rechargeable batteries (either NiMH or NiCd ). In an un-modified condition they can be expected to fire 0.2 g BBs at approximately 280-315 feet per second (FPS).

Due to the mass quantities of metal parts (aluminum diecasting) and the pre-upgrades Classic Army replicas can cost around 300 dollars for an entry level A.E.G.

Classic Army has positioned itself as the primary competitor to Tokyo Marui in the airsoft gun market. Classic Army's appeal comes from its common use of full metal bodies on stock guns, 7 mm metal bushings, metal gears, and including high-capacity magazines with its products. However other companies have been catching with full metal bodies and high stock FPS as well. Classic Army is arguably one of the best AEG manufacturers on the market for the price today.

Classic Army is the only airsoft gun company that is allowed to use the ArmaLite trademark on its guns increasing realism, appeal, and price. Due to the high price of the rights to the trademark, Classic Army will soon be reducing its number of the ArmaLite series to 10 guns.

Airsoft guns hot in the market

I've read this article from Inquirer.net website about a shipment of airsoft guns seized by customs officials in paradise Philippines.

THERE has been an increase in the entry of gun replicas in the country, prompting Customs officials to double their efforts in intercepting these through newly installed X-ray machines.

"We have intercepted three containers full of Airsoft guns since June," Julito Doria, head of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) X-Ray Inspection Project, said in an interview.

Doria said original Japanese Airsoft guns, used in military simulation games, cost P12,000 each. However, those that were smuggled into the Philippines from China cost only P5,000.

"The counterfeit Airsoft guns enter the country [in huge quantities]," he said, adding that the importers declare the shipment as plastic toys to evade further scrutiny.

Doria, however, said his group was able to detect several packages of gun replicas on July 2 inside the shipment of a container van from China through the X-ray machines.

Less than two weeks later, the Customs personnel were able to intercept another shipment consigned to Kat-Leen Trading. The cargo contained P224,624 worth of gun replicas.

"Because they are exact replicas of real guns and could be used in criminal activities, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has issued a circular regulating Airsoft products," Doria said.

He said that the installation of more X-ray machines in other major ports would greatly help in intercepting more of the gun replicas.

"In just two months of its full-blast operation, the X-ray project, which is under the direct supervision of the Commissioner of Customs, was able to [collect] various items and shipment worth millions that were recommended either for seizure or payment of additional duties and taxes," Doria said in his report to Customs Commissioner Napoleon Morales.

He said the deployment of more state-of-the-art X-ray machines in other major ports in the country would prevent the entry of contraband, guns, drugs and other anti-social goods.

"There would also be an increase in revenue collection as a result of proper declaration of importation," he said.
